Dear Church Family,

Before her recent retirement, a friend of mine was the Episcopal Bishop of Rhode Island. A few years previously, she took an unusual sabbatical that was daring, a little scary, and very revealing. She dressed herself as a homeless person, removed her make-up, allowed her hair to become unkempt, and began visiting the congregations of her own diocese on Sunday mornings.
