Minister Mike Lemay
Minister Mike Lemay was born in Hanover, N.H., and moved to Salisbury, Md. as a child. He moved to Lake of the Woods in August 1990 with his wife Jean and three daughters, Jennifer, Krista and Tracy. Two daughters still live in LOW. His daughters and four grandsons have grown up in The Lake of the Woods Church.
Mike and Jean met in Salisbury, Md., in high school and have been married for 36 years. They both joined the church in 1992. Jean has been working in the church nursery since 1990, and Mike was called to be the youth director in the fall of 1998 after assisting the outgoing youth pastor on the first youth mission trip to the Dominican Republic, where they built a church in cooperation with Time Ministries. This was Mike’s first experience with mission work.
Mike studied economics at Delaware Technical Institute in Georgetown, Del., and business administration and criminology at Northern Virginia Community College in Manassas. He received a degree in biblical studies in May 2000 and a bachelor of arts degree in ministries in 2010.
Mike was licensed as a minister of the church and served as the youth minister until 2008. He was then selected to the role of minister of visitation in adult ministries where he became a full time minister in 2000. He is currently working on his ordination and a board certification as a pastoral counselor with the (AACC) American Association of Christian Counselors.
Mike retired from law enforcement in 2008 after 25 years of service with the Prince William County Sheriff’s Department. He continues to enjoy the community of Lake of the Woods with his family and four grandsons.
It is a privilege to serve and to work with the wonderful staff and people of The Lake of the Woods Church, to reach out to those in our community for Christ, and to care for the sick and the widow(ers), as Jesus did.
