The Rev. Jordan Medas
It’s ironic that my story of faith, as of now, stands with me following the call to serve the Lord in ministry. It started with my grandmother dragging me kicking and screaming to church just down the road at Central Baptist in Midlothian, VA. Many times it’s only in hindsight that we truly see God’s hand in our lives and then delight in the thought of the plans He has for us.
Though I grew up learning stories from the Bible and of the work of Jesus, it wasn’t until my freshman year at James Madison University (Go Dukes!) that I made the decision to accept Christ as my Lord and Savior. After I graduated from JMU with a Bachelor of Music degree, I went on to play in the Disney Grammy Collegiate Orchestra in Orlando for a summer. Upon returning to Virginia, I joined a band called Carbon Leaf, toured the country for nine years, and even won an American Music Award in 2002. However, the more I toured, the more I realized that it wasn’t the path God had in store for me. I began playing on the Lake of the Woods’ worship team and before long, felt the call to lead worship. I took this responsibility very seriously and in 2011 began seminary work at Liberty University (Go Flames!). I began my studies in Worship Studies but soon developed a love of Theology and graduated in 2013 with a Master of Theological Studies degree.
In the two years prior to accepting the call to Lake of the Woods Church, I served as the Minister of Worship and Discipleship at Zoan Baptist Church in Fredericksburg, VA. I’m very excited to see what God has in store at Lake of the Woods Church and am very excited to be a part of it along with my beautiful wife, Lisa, and children, Jonah, Abigail, Jessica and Molly.
So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31
