Dear Church Family,
xxxxxThe Bible tells us in Philippians 2:5-8, that we are to place the needs of others before our own. At no time is this more important than during this COVID-19 virus pandemic, which your Board of Elders considers real, dangerous, and not yet under sufficient control. In late March we began implementing practices we considered necessary to minimize the impact of the virus on our congregation and in the surrounding communities we serve. Our actions followed the Centers for Disease Control’s (CDC) general considerations for communities of faith and the Virginia Governor’s Executive Orders Nos. 63, 67 and 68 that include wearing face masks, maintaining social distance, and employing good hygiene practices such as using hand sanitizers and disinfecting commonly used surfaces.
xxxxxAs we cautiously reopen the Church for in-person worship services and other group activities, our overriding concern is with the health and wellbeing of our congregation and the many people we contact in serving the Lord. And we believe there is no better way to show love for our neighbor than by voluntarily accepting some inconvenience in our own behavior. After thorough examination of the currently available data on this pandemic, we have committed to following the CDC guidance and the Governor’s Executive Orders during all church sponsored activities. Accordingly, our implementing guidelines for in-person gatherings will not be changed at this time and are prominently posted throughout the church for your convenience.
