Dear Church Family,

Jesus told his followers that others will know we are Christians by the love you show one another.  A leader in the denomination that I am ordained in recently shared that wearing a mask is a way of “loving our neighbors as we love ourselves”.  At no time is this more important than during the COVID-19 virus pandemic.

We have seen a significant increase in Covid 19 cases statewide and locally. In response to this rapid spread of infections, your Board of Elders voted last night to implement practices they considered necessary to minimize the impact of the virus on our congregation and in the surrounding communities we serve.

Beginning today, January 11, we are suspending wedding and funeral receptions and other similar social gatherings in the church for 30 days.  We also are requiring masks to be worn at all times, regardless of your vaccination status, while in the church building, with the exception that church staff may remove masks when alone in their private offices.  In addition, clergy may remove their masks when speaking in church services and performers may remove their masks when singing during our services. The Board is constantly monitoring conditions and guidance from health organizations and will revisit the mask policy at its February meeting.

Please join me in praying for those who are recovering from Covid and praying for this pandemic to end.  Thank you for being vigilant in protecting yourself, your families, and others.

In Christian Love,

Pastor Adam Colson

Regarding Wednesday Nights:

In keeping with the Board of Elders’ decision to suspend wedding and funeral receptions and other similar social gatherings in the church for 30 days, dinner will not be served on Wednesday nights through Wednesday, Feb. 9.

Groups meeting in the church including Youth Group, Kids Club, and Adult Small groups will still meet each Wednesday night from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Masks are required at this time for all ages.

Our hope is that by minimizing the impact of the virus on our congregation and in the surrounding communities we serve we can resume Wednesday Night Dinner’s on Wednesday, Feb. 16.
