The Missions and Benevolence Committee has undergone a major restructuring that will allow us to serve our Lord, the ministries and missions we support, our church and our congregation in a much more efficient way. The new organization has created some wonderful opportunities for those who wish to serve. These are exciting times in our church and a great time to join our Missions and Benevolence Team. Ministry Steward for Church Based Benevolence Programs
Exercises general oversight of church-based benevolence programs under the Missions and Benevolence Ministry. These are “hands-on” programs occurring primarily at LOWC as an outreach to the community and beyond. Helps coordinate programs such as the Thanksgiving Gift Baskets, Operation Christmas Child (shoe box ministry), and the International Child Sponsorship Communication Program.
Writer/Publicist for the Short-term Mission Committee
Writes articles for The Mouse, service bulletins and oral announcements to publicize short term mission trips. This person would also participate in planning meetings (about 6/year) for mission trips.
Spiritual Coordinator for the Short-term Mission Committee
Develops the spiritual side of the short-term mission ministry. Possible activities include establishing prayer chain or group for mission trips, publishing prayers for congregation, and exploring ways to increase spiritual impact on projects.
Audio/Visual coordinator for Education and Outreach
Coordinates “Missions Moment” video clip on a monthly basis. Publishes updates of the ministries and missionaries we support on our website and Sunday bulletins. Will train.
Bulletin Board Maintenance Assistant
Assists with the up-keeping of the Missions bulletin boards. This involves maintaining current information on the ministries and missionaries and creating displays, posters and advertising.
General Assistant for Education and Outreach
Works closely with the Steward for Education and Outreach in the planning, development and execution of the yearly Missions Expo event.
