The Lake of the Woods Church welcomes back acclaimed pianist Daniel Grotz for your summer musical highlight. Daniel will present a program on “Chopin, The Man and His Music.”
The concert will begin at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 25.
While he primarily works in performance, Daniel has also studied music composition and premiered two of his piano pieces in 2015 at a LOWC concert. Another work of his — for choir and oboe — was performed by the University of Virginia instrumental conducting class under the direction of Michael Slon.
Daniel plans to premiere one or two of his new compositions at this concert. Daniel was winner of the Culpeper Lions Bland Music Contest in 2013 and 2014, and went on to District level in 2013 and Regional level in 2014. In 2015, he auditioned for and received a piano performance scholarship at U.Va. He has also performed as a soloist in Puerto Rico, Germany, The Lake of the Woods Church (twice), Stage Alive, and various churches and retirement homes. Daniel has also performed as a frequent accompanist, most notably for the Charlottesville High School production of Aida, earlier this year.
Daniel is an Echols Scholar at U.Va., and dedicates his music to benefit The Lake of the Woods Church Music Arts Department. He is the grandson of Dottie and Jerry Moser.
The concert is free but attendees will have the opportunity to contribute toward our musical programs.
Please join us for a Cookie Concerto Reception after the concert to meet and greet our wonderful artist.
