28: The number of children that prayed to receive Christ this year at the Good News Clubs in Locust Grove Elementary and Primary schools. The Lake of the Woods Church is excited to return to this ministry in the fall … HOWEVER ….. we are in need of adults to help with the Good News Clubs. Bible Teachers, Teacher Assistants, Record Keepers, Prayer Leaders, and Grade Helpers are needed. If we do not have enough leaders, we cannot return to the clubs this year. PLEASE contact Pastor Colson to find out more information and to get involved in the Good News Club after school ministry.

6: In one day alone last week, 6 Bags of Hope were distributed in Orange County to children being placed in Foster Care. The Resource Specialist for Orange County Social Services told me that the childrens faces change when that bag is given to them. Thank you for helping our church supply these backpacks of hope to children who desperately need hope during a scary moment. For more information on Bags of Hope and to see a collection list of items needed, log onto the church website.

2: Number of Saturdays spent so far feeding the homeless in our local communities. The Lake of the Woods Church is partnering with Micah Ecumenical Ministry and Thurman Brisben to feed the homeless. If your Sunday School or Small Group would like to adopt one of the upcoming Saturdays please contact Pastor Colson.

30+: Number of individuals fed at our Foster Family Picnic. An exciting night of hamburgers, hotdogs, great food, fun games, Mr. Checkers Magic Show, and take home baskets was held for Foster Care families in Orange, VA. Thank you, church family, for helping to make this a special evening.

75: Number of children we want to help with our Stuff the Bus school supplies for needy children. See the flyer on the welcome table on items needed for Stuff the Bus.

1: Single mom in ministry that Community Missions was able to help get a car. We partnered with a ministry in Northern Virginia to help this mom who works with some of the most needy children.

60%: The number of children in Orange County on reduced or free lunch in our public schools. This year The Lake of the Woods Church is partnering with Shining Hands and Thrivent Financial to feed children over the summer and over the weekends during the school year. This summer we will be delivering boxes of food (2 weeks’ worth) that children can use to make breakfasts and lunches while at home. During the school year, we will be packing bags to send home with children over the weekends.

To help with this ministry or to get more information please contact Pastor Colson.
