Make a habit of praising your spouse in front of others. Not only does saying GOOD things about your spouse make YOU feel more positively about your spouse, it also helps your spouse to feel affirmed. Private praise is good, public praise has a greater effect. Make a conscious effort to take note of the things that your spouse does. For instance, is your spouse a greater planner/organizer? Is your spouse creative? Does your spouse have a great sense of humor? Being able to articulate the “good” about your spouse to others helps to remind you that your spouse is indeed a gift from the Lord.
